I saw 1.95 for regular and thought hmm prices are getting back to normal. What on earth is in your gas? I haven't paid much attention to premium ever but it isn't even close to that.

Still? Right now the wait is about 30 seconds, but even in the past, when the line looked large, I’ve never waited longer than 10 minutes.

However, I don’t like the rushed feeling. The staring eyes from the guy waiting next making sure you don’t waste a second getting your gas, like screwing up you pin on your debit card, lol.

Ethanol-free always carries a hefty premium (SWIDT? ) . I don’t usually see anything but super unleaded in the ethanol-free flavor around Seattle , though.

Of course, my neighbor got “too smart by half” and used some (R+M)/2 = 95 in his Cirrus, rather than the recommended 100LL Avgas.

And, got some free melted pistons for his trouble. Sometimes the cheap way out is the really, really expensive way out...

I wonder what goes in to the pricing decisions. Here, in the same state but totally different region, premium is $2.75-$3.00. Even Chevron is only $3.05. Ironically it’s the old car that will run on swamp water that costs the most since the one thing it doesn’t like is alcohol. Damn teetotaler costs us $3.80.

The bigger question is “what’s the spread over 87?”

You can get used to gas prices wherever you are, but that spread is the real determinant in your car choice. Around here, it’s 80 cents to a dollar...except at our one Costco, where it’s 30 cents. They probably didn’t get the memo, and that’s cool with me.

Also, cars that require premium are likely to have poorer fuel economy.

It was one of the many reasons we got the loaded Toyota instead of the mid-range Lexus.

I don’t use their gas in my car, but used to use it in my shittier shitbox and it was always fine. Not that I live near an ARCO anymore. When I did, you better believe I filled with that stuff (this was in California, where gas prices are ridiculous).

Is that supposed to be expensive? Sounds about normal for 91 here in Socal. Little bit cheaper than that at the moment with costco and cheaper places like that. At least the price difference to 87 is only 20-30 cents here. On the east coast it was often 70 cents to $1 different!

Hahah. Try a car that’s tuned for 93 octane from the factory, and then live in a state that serves California extra-mild 91 salsa at the spiciest. The 2.0T feels like it makes about 240 hp instead of the factory 275. And, still gotta pay for ”premium” fuel to get it to run at all. /shouldaGotTheV6
